Oromahoe School was established in the 1870's as a mission school, later becoming a Native and Maori School.
During it's long history the school was attended  by both Pakeha and Maori children of the district.

The school is set 1km back from the road and nestled in amongst native and oak trees on a large, flat area.  There are two old classrooms, two new classroons, a separate new library and office.  The staffroom overlooks the playing areas;comprising two tennis courts, two large playing fields, a newly completed
adventure playground and fitness trail, and a large ashphalt area.

Oromahoe School caters for children from New Entrant to Year 8.
