With over 50 different ethnic communities calling it home, Manukau City is proudly multi-cultural. This is reflected in the hopes and aspirations of the community, and the achievements from some of our people in such fields as:
MUSIC: artistes such as OMC, In Voice, Overdose, Annie Crummer, Ardijah, Sugar, the Fuemana family
SPORT: Arthur Lydiard (long-distance runner); John Walker middle-distance runner), Barbara Kendall (sail-boarding); Paea Wolfgramm (boxing); Peter Fatialofa (rugby); Jonah Lomu (rugby)
 Manukau's newest landmark, the Millennium Sculpture, stands 20 metres tall and enjoys a prominent position at the intersection of Great South and Wiri Station Rds, Manukau City Centre.
Its Maori name is He Taonga Hiranga Whakanui Whanau ("a gift to portray the importance of family").
The artist is Richard Shortland Cooper, a Manukau resident.
