Don’t miss the chance to see this botanical gem which has featured on TV documentaries and in most of New Zealand’s gardening magazines.
See the large ponds filled with water lilies and bog plants, massive volcanic boulders and many native and exotic species, all in a completely natural setting.
Follow the stepped track through a large area of native bush which is home to our Brown Kiwi. Sit on one of the seats to appreciate the panoramic view of tens of thousands of acres, and places of historical interest, including Te Heu Heu Bluff and TaraTara. Return through very old virgin bush which has never been milled - it is like stepping back in time!
Taraire Park is a unique piece of ancient New Zealand. Allow at least an hour to enjoy it, or you are welcome to bring a picnic to one of the picnic spots and stay awhile. Pack in and pack out – there are no rubbish bins.
The track is well signposted and items of interest are marked for your information.
Taraire Water Gardens are also a well known Parkover Property for members of the NZ Motorhome Association.
