This long narrow reserve
lies along the southern bank of the Raumanga Stream and fronts onto Raumanga
Valley Road about 1 km from its junction with State Highway 1. (Raumanga
Valley Road forms the southern boundary of Tarewa Park.)
The
first half of the reserve is mainly lawn with
an occasional tree and traversed by a concrete slab path which leads through
the centre of the area. After five minutes walking the path ascends
gently into mature bush and within a further five minutes reaches the top
of the Raumanga Falls. From here the path ascends more steeply for a few
hundred metres to rejoin Raumanga Valley Road.
The best picnic areas are towards the head of
the reserve alongside the stream where there is adequate tree
shade.
