Winner announced Te Manawhenua Challenge
Kohukohu Primary School were announced as the winners at the Te Waka Kai Ora Hui held recently in Ahipara. Tanya Fillia the principle of the school was there on behalf of the tamariki to accept the taonga and prizes. "The tamariki had all worked in the garden over the year and were very proud of the effort they had put into their garden" she said "They had shared the produce with the kuia and kaumatua around Kohukohu, as well as taken some home."
Tuputupu Whenua were second and Ohaeawai Primary School were third.
"It was hard to pick a winner out of all the entries received" said Michelle Hudson excutive member of Tairokerau Organic Producers "All the gardens we looked at you could see the hard work and effort put into every one of them. We look forward to the Manawhenua challenge for the 2009-2010 year."
